What to Do If Your Download Is Corrupt or the ZIP File Will Not Open
KeyboardTEK programming files can be large. If a download is interrupted, blocked, or partially completed, the ZIP file may not open correctly.
This does not always mean the file from KeyboardTEK is broken. In many cases, the issue is caused by an incomplete download, network restriction, firewall, or unzip utility.

Common Signs of a Download Problem
You may have a download or ZIP issue if:
- The ZIP file will not open.
- Your computer says the file is corrupt.
- The download finishes unusually quickly.
- The file size looks smaller than expected.
- The file opens but appears to be missing content.
- MainStage opens but reports missing files or samples.
If any of these happen, start by downloading the file again.
Why Downloads Can Fail
KeyboardTEK programming files may include large MainStage concerts, samples, instruments, and related files.
Large downloads can fail if:
- The internet connection drops during download.
- A school or business network blocks large files.
- A firewall or web filter interrupts the download.
- The download is throttled by the network.
- The computer goes to sleep before the download finishes.
- There is not enough available storage on the computer.
- The ZIP file is opened before the download is complete.
Try Downloading Again
If the ZIP file will not open, delete the incomplete or corrupt download and download a fresh copy.
Do not try to repair or reuse the broken ZIP file.
After downloading again, compare the file size if possible. If the new file is much larger than the original failed download, the first download was likely incomplete.
Use a Reliable Internet Connection
Use the most stable internet connection available.
If possible:
- Use a wired internet connection.
- Stay close to the Wi-Fi router.
- Avoid public Wi-Fi.
- Avoid downloading during times when the network is heavily used.
- Keep the computer awake until the download is complete.
Large files may take time to download. Let the download finish completely before opening the ZIP file.
Avoid Restricted Networks When Possible
School, university, theatre, and business networks sometimes block or interrupt large downloads.
If the download repeatedly fails on one network, try downloading from a different network, such as a home internet connection or another unrestricted connection.
If you must use a school or business network, you may need help from your IT department.
Use a Dedicated Unzip App
If the ZIP file downloads completely but still will not open, try using a dedicated unzip app.
Recommended options include:
After unzipping, open the extracted MainStage concert or folder. Do not try to run the programming directly from inside the ZIP file.
Check Your Available Storage
Make sure your computer has enough free storage before downloading and unzipping the files.
You need enough space for:
- The downloaded ZIP file
- The unzipped programming folder
- Any temporary space required by the unzip process
KeyboardTEK recommends keeping at least 20–25% free disk space available for MainStage performance work.
Do Not Open the File Before It Is Fully Downloaded
Wait until the download is complete before opening or unzipping the file.
If you try to open the ZIP file while it is still downloading, your computer may report that the file is damaged or incomplete.
